Looking for affordable honeymoon resorts? The Caribbean and Mexico offer more resorts than anywhere else in the world. Since both of these places have become prime honeymoon and wedding destinations they have made an art form out of great value to honeymooners and couples planning weddings in the Caribbean.

BUT - The true art in scoping out your perfect budget-friendly honeymoon spot is finding an affordable honeymoon resort that has a lot of value not "cheap". Here are some of FABULOUS places that newlyweds and friends/collegues have told me about - with rave reviews of course!

Afforable Resorts in the Caribbean

Cuba

The Melia Cayo Coco is an affordable honeymoon resort that offers excellent value and is a great resort for small budgets. The young bride who told me about it said that she loved the beachfront setting, incredible views AND restaurants!. She was also really keen on the adults-only policy.

I also looked at a bunch of pictures and reviews and it seems to get a lot of good reviews from couples seeking romantic and affordable holidays.

Turks and Caicos

You can have a fantastic honeymoon at the Villa Del Mar for under $200 a night, which I think is fairly reasonable for a "honeymoon suite". These are honeymoon suites for people who want a luxurious honeymoon - with crisp white bed linen, king size beds, and a soothing ambiance!

The couple who wrote to me told me that it is quite close to one of the roudier hotels and is also close to the supermarket and some other convenient places like scooter rental places. They were never bored and had a ton of different activities to chose from.

Nassau Bahamas

My cousin-in-law visited the Breezes SuperClubs and loved all of the activities, its close proximity to the casino and its amazing spa.

It's also on Cable Beach, often considered to be the best beaches in Nassau. They loved the rooms and found them both elegant and breezy. They also found the beach and water to be cleaner than some of the other surrounding resorts. Good tip!

British Virgin Islands

The British Virgin Islands isn't exactly known for being a cheap destination, but a couple wrote to tell me that for about $180/night they got a a lovely room at the Long Bay Beach Resort. And, apparently they didn't get just any room stuck in the furthest corner of the resort! They go the the Hillside Oceanview room. Nice!

Affordable resorts in Mexico

Mayan Riviera — Playa del Carmen

When a bride wrote to tell me about the Gran Porto Real Resort and Spa I fell in love. Especially after looking at pictures. The whole feeling of the place really seems to blend in with the tropical setting. The service is said to be really great and the bride loved it's close proximity to downtown Playa del Carmen which she found both fun and relaxing. She described the experience as both "enchanting and alluring". Sounds enticing to me!

Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands

Two of my friends stayed at the Rosewood Little Dix Bay and said it was a lovely little out-of-the-way resort.

Since it was to be their last romantic vacation for awhile (they were expecting a baby) they were looking for a secluded little in without alot of activity. They also loved that the resort had staff available to take them from island to island if they ever needed a change of scenery.

It's not the cheapest resort on this page, but it's less expensive than some other reorts offering this kind of quality and service. My friends told me to tell you to opt for the romance package and to take a trip to the secluded hill top spa and go for the "flame private dinner" on the beach. Sounds dreamy huh!
