Great honeymoon ideas for small budgets
Looking for affordable
honeymoon tips and ideas? If you're like so many other brides you've blown alot of your budget on your wedding and don't have nearly as much left for the honeymoon you hoped.
In my wedding guide "Perfect Weddings Without the Debt" I have a whole section dedicated to honeymoons. This post wedding rendezvous is built up in our imaginations just as much as the wedding, so skipping this topic just wasn't an option!
But, right now you're interested in ideas for a honeymoon you can afford. And that's exactly where I hope the tips on this page will help.
You're far from alone this quest! I get a ton of letters from brides wondering how they can still have an amazing AND affordable honeymoon. In order to help you make your dream honeymoon a reality I talked to travel agents and even considered my own budget travel experiences to show you that you can have a fantastic honeymoon even on a tiny budget!
What I learned in doing the reserach for this page is that whether you want a cultural
adventure in Europe or a relaxing getaway in Playa
del Carmen there are ways to have
an incredible honeymoon that isn't over-the-top expensive.
Top Four Ways To Save On Your Honeymoon
1. Travell off-season
You don't have to travel during Monsoon season to save. BUT, if you travel even slightly off season you'll be able to save at least a little bit of money. For example, in Europe this would include September and May and in the Caribbean it would vary depending on the location of the island.
In addition to the financial savings, there are so
many other reasons to take your honeymoon slightly off-season. The three top reasons include:
Crowds are smaller. If you don't like crowds this is a big reason to travel off-season.
Shops are open during the day. For example, in many parts of Europe shops are closed midday during peak season to help locals withstand the heat.
The locals will be happier to see you. It's true! In the more popular travel spots the locals are "numb" to tourists during the high season. If you visit slightly off-season they'll be more open and receptive to conversation.

2. Travel off-the beaten track
You don't have to go to timbuktu or some pathetic backwater town to have an affordable honeymoon. There are however a tons of "secret" out of the ways places with remarkable beaches, night life, culture, food and natural wonders.
Keep and open mind and you'll be surprised at the amazing (and affordable) options available to you. If you're lucky you could be discover a new hot spot - just like early travellers to Costa Rica who discovered its beauty far sooner than the rest of the world.

3. Stay Close to Home
You don't have to stay down the street from your house, but there are always places close to home that would require only a short drive or train ride. The money you save on airfare can be spent on a more luxurious room, fancy dinners, and afternoons at the spa!
4. Pay Attention To Currency
Always pay attention to currency conversion rates! A trip to Europe would make most North Americans gasp - wtih a simple room in Venice (for instance) easily costing $300 a night and a mediocre pizza slice and pop costing about $20. Let's not even talk about the cost of an average sit down meal!
If you can get a luxurious suite in place like Prague for the 1/2 the price of a room in Venice then having your dream honeymoon has become a heck of a lot more affordable!
