Cheap Must-have Accessories &
Decor Ideas For Backyard Weddings

Let's face it, if you're looking for backyard wedding ideas you're living in the world of the idyllic. Picture it now: pretty tents, flickering fairy lights, paper lanterns, sweet flower centerpieces, and happy brides and grooms kanoodling under a beautiful blue sky.

1) Paper Lanterns Look Great At Any Backyard Wedding

Paper lanterns for weddings are so popular for outdoor and backyard weddings right now. I think that it's because they're super cheap, while still be really versatile and stylish.

There are easily hundreds of designs, colors and price ranges you can choose from. This makes them a them a cheap wedding decoration option for pretty much any bride regardless of theme or budget.

What I like about them is the fact that you can use just a few or have a ton of them and they'll look great no matter what! Just remember to have fun and experiment a bit. Be creative, keep on theme, and don't forget to ask for a bit of help :)

2) Set The Mood With Your Backyard Wedding Sign

These days there are a lot of really pretty DIY backyard wedding signs. Couples make them out of everything from plywood to tree branches.

3) Practical and Pretty Candle Holders Are Good For Your Budget

Lighting plays a big part in a wedding and candles (either as a candle centerpiece or strewn around your venue) are an inexpensive way to set the mood, especially if you're looking for outdoor wedding decorations.

If your budget is really small add some simple tea lights placed in dollar store holders. OR, fill small paper bags with sand and a single tea light. Floating candles, or candles sitting on rocks, sand or water pearls in tall glass cylinders are also really great. Important note: Holders that are taller than your candle are essential for outdoor weddings because they protect the candle from the wind.

4) Wedding Bubbles Are Whimsical and Fun

Backyard weddings and wedding bubbles go hand-in-hand. The effect is picture-perfect.

For smaller budgets get your bridesmaids, or flower girl and ring bearer to blow the bubbles post ceremony as you're walking up the aisle. You'll be happy you did when you get your pictures!

If you have a slightly bigger budget (or just can't live without a picture of you and your new spouse gliding through a cloud of bubbles) get wedding bubbles in bulk so that all of your guests can join in on the fun and celebrate you nuptials with a a little bubble fun.

5) Wedding Parasols Make Backyard Wedding Pics Fab-u-lous!

Most brides probably aren't going to buy wedding parasols for every single guest attending the wedding.

But, if you expect to be standing out in the sun with your maids for awhile they sure will be handy. And, they look totally gorgeous in photos.

I love how Kaelyn and Joshua’s opted for really simple parasol. But also love how Jillian pulled out the multi-colored parasols for her beach wedding photos. Don't they look great in photos!

Wedding Place Card Holders That Would Work Beautifully For A Backyard Wedding

Not to fancy, weighted (so they won't blow away) and on theme - these are the things you have to consider when deciding on your backyard wedding table place card holders. And I just LOVE the ideas below because they're all of those things PLUS practical. Most of them are combined favors/placecards tems that won't end up as junk. And those that might not be as practical will be super easy to sell on Ebay, Kijjiji, or Craigslist.

Planning Your Backyard Wedding

The above ideas will take care of the look, but if you're planning a backyard wedding you should step outside of your fantasy-world for just a moment to make sure your dream day is exactly that - a dream.

In addition to getting the mood right, a big part of it is common-sense: Make sure you prepare for the weather with tents and/or electric, have porta potties if necessary, etc.

If you want more guidance, the K.i.s.s Wedding Guide has an entire section for outdoor brides.
