Ashley & Phillip’s Sunny Yellow Wedding

A true DIY wedding that looks a million dollars! Ashley and Phillip got creative with everything from invitations to decor. Both families and friends pitched in like true pros. The results were a magic mix of the modern, the traditional and the funky.

Who needs amazingly expensive wedding planners when you’ve got a dream team like this? The focus was firmly on fun, happiness and family history. And that’s the way it should be, right?

There was a huge handmade vibe going on. Everything from favor boxes to menu cards and candy table labels were hand crafted with lurve!

I’m crazy about the way this couple worked personal details into their big day. The true meaning of marriage played a massive part. I’m talking fascinating photos of the bride and groom’s parents on their wedding days. Along with refurbished family heirlooms adorning the aisle. Priceless details that don’t cost a small fortune.

It’s all about working with what you already have. Want a beautiful bespoke day on a budget? Take a leaf out of this clever couple’s book

Check those yellow pom poms lining the aisle! Genius work. Makes a refreshing change from floral arragements and adds the wow factor instantly.

Also adore those hanging ’LOVE’ signs! Signage played a huge role in this glorious yellow wedding. Handmade Mr & Mrs cards plus moustaches and lips for the guests gave the day a fun vibe.

Top marks in the style stakes for adding monochrome touches into the mix. Yellow was the star of the show but black and white added plenty of panache. Carefully chosen secondary shades can make all the difference.

I want to take a moment for Ashley’s super talented mom. She got busy with the accessories – big time. This talented lady made all the striking monochrome sashes the bridesmaids are wearing.

She didn’t stop there! Mom also crafted a bespoke hairpiece for her daughter. This lucky bride got an amazing accessory with special meaning minus the huge price tag.

Ashley’s mom also whipped up these awesome black and white damask ties for the gents.

Check the sunny yellow buttonholes. Effective and inexpensive. Brilliant work.

The Goodies…

The vibrant yellow color scheme was carried right through to the treats! Those head-turning cupcakes would hold their own in any glossy wedding mag. Loving the yellow jellybeans and mini Hershey’s too. The signage adds the finishing touch to a tempting table full of wedding goodies.

But the big sweet success has to be that gobsmacking wonky wedding cake. Bang on trend and more photogenic than a supermodel.

You’ve got to hand it to Ashley and Phillip. They rocked the spirit of the DIY wedding hard. And it had all the hallmarks of a designer day. I’d be squealing with delight if my day looked half as delicious as theirs.
