Anne and Chris’ Breathtaking Chilly Weather Wedding

Boom-boom… boom-boom… boom-boom! That’s the sound of my heart pounding when I look at this baby-it’s-cold-outside wedding — the deep, deep reds with winter white and romantic golden accents literally take my breath away. Extreme beauty will do that to a woman!

Anne and Chris were married just before Christmas in Washington, D.C., where the couple set very high standards for drama and elegance… and guess what? Anne was her own wedding planner. Beauty and brains, darling, what else do we need?

A chic and contemporary wedding that cost less than $5k! But looked about a billion.

Andrea and Jason got the dramatic Hollywood effect for less. Brides on a budget listen up! This clever couple made their dollars work hard on all fronts. Red roses and romance set the tone. The results were sheer old school, movie star glamour.

Irene & Dan’s Wonderful Zoo Wedding!

Hold the phones! Irene and Dan’s wedding at the zoo is the coolest I’ve seen in years. This clever couple got the safari effect without the expense. Russell Brand and Katy Perry eat your hearts out.

All the action took place at the African Savannah section of the San Francisco Zoo. Who needs expensive wedding decor when you’ve got the plains and animals of Africa?

I love the way Irene and Dan worked exotic little details into the mix. Check the orchid in the giraffe print flowerpot. Simple but absolutely awesome!

They worked the zoo theme into every aspect of the wedding in a subtle way. See her sparkly, snakeskin effect shoes?

Patricia and Ray’s 50th Anniversary Hoe-Down

Ok, so anniversary parties aren’t usually my thing. But I just had to make an exception in this case. It’s got OMG! written all over it.

If I had to sum this one up in one sentence it would be: harvest festival meets hoe down.

There’s also a lovely story behind it that nearly had me blubbing. Yeah, so I’m a big softie! Patricia and Ray never got to have a proper wedding reception. So their daughter and grand daughter got their heads together and threw them this one – 50 years later. Better late than never.

The girls took two things the couple wanted – bluegrass music and minimal fuss. There’s a really strong DIY feel to this party, which is great news for brides on a budget. Mother, daughter and family friends worked together to make this anniversary party special. They handled everything from DJ duties and cake making to collecting wild flowers.

Patricia and Ray’s big day scores top marks on two levels.

Kiran and Rich’s Red and Black Summer Wedding at the Farm

Marshmallows roasting on an open campfire! A ruby red wedding gown AND black bridesmaids dresses! Could this be the most imaginative wedding ever?

As a country chick, I’m crazy about the way this couple used the natural surroundings of a farm as inspiration.

Kiran and Rich’s wedding makes me think of lazy summer days and campfire nights. I bet their guests had a total blast! Red potatoes – brilliant or what! By channeling the “feeling” of the farm they could go down the home-made route with decor and detailing. Check out the crafty cake and that lovely rustic-looking sign. In this setting, they look picture perfect.
