Hannah and John’s Happy Yellow and White Military Wedding
Sunny and simple and so, so sweet - this yellow ‘n’ white military wedding has commanded our full ‘atten-SHUN’!
Full of gorgeous little details – did you SEE those adorable hanging lanterns?? – this wedding proves that you don’t have to bust the bank account to create a sweetly elegant wedding ‘do’.
Every aspect of Hanna and John’s garden wedding is a salute to the k.i.s.s. principle – the pretty home-made decorations, the simple-but-beautiful centerpieces, even the bouquets, which were probably professionally created but make use of inexpensive flowers like daisies and sunflowers.
Want to re-create this garden yellow and white theme for your own wedding?
It’s simple.
The trick is to work with what you already have – a beautiful green setting, full of natural beauty that you can incorporate into your decor.
All you need to add is some floral accents to really make the yellow pop: big sunflowers, sweet bunches of daisies, and lots of yellow candles. You can also make use of yellow fruits or drinks, like the stylish pitchers of homemade lemonade this couple set up.
Don’t be afraid to take on projects like the centerpieces and bouquets yourself – the look actually works better for being a little unpolished and ‘homespun’.
The end result will be a wedding that is the last word in rustic prettiness, but without seeing off the last few pennies in the bank. All the more for the honeymoon!

Thanks so much for featuring us in your blog. I will say that it was definitely difficult to keep withing a small budget, but with a little creativity, we were able to do it. I made all of the boy’s “button”ieres by hand, the programs, and the mason jars. My mom made all of the bridesmaid’s dresses by hand. The theme we were going for was a 1940s US Navy meets LowCountry South Carolina feel with lots of home-made touches. We couldn’t have asked for a better team of vendors and let me just say, planning a wedding by yourself isn’t easy…Haha! Thanks again!

Hi Hannah
Thank you so much for taking the time to come here and share! I really loved your wedding – the little personal touches are exactly what make it special. But yes, it IS true – planning a wedding (budget or not) is very hard. I’ve kind of made it my bizarre mission to help up and comers understand this, while still letting them know what CAN be done to both simplify and save. I loved writing about your wedding because I think there are some really good ideas in there. The fact that you and your husband obviously had a great time is the most important part of all. Congratulations by the way!
