Irene & Dan’s Wonderful Zoo Wedding!

Hold the phones! Irene and Dan’s wedding at the zoo is the coolest I’ve seen in years. This clever couple got the safari effect without the expense. Russell Brand and Katy Perry eat your hearts out.

All the action took place at the African Savannah section of the San Francisco Zoo. Who needs expensive wedding decor when you’ve got the plains and animals of Africa?

I love the way Irene and Dan worked exotic little details into the mix. Check the orchid in the giraffe print flowerpot. Simple but absolutely awesome!

They worked the zoo theme into every aspect of the wedding in a subtle way. See her sparkly, snakeskin effect shoes?

Irene and Dan embraced the fun day at the zoo idea with a fairground ride. It’s like a scene from a romantic movie!

The signage was smart, funky and chic.  This wedding is a masterclass in how to balance the traditional with the modern. Romantic red roses sat alongside oriental lanterns and a funky binary wedding cake. Distinctive and dazzling doesn’t do it justice! Top marks to these two for wedding creativity and flair. They brought very different elements together beautifully.

The entertainment didn’t stop with the fairground ride. Irene and Dan held their cocktail hour in the giraffe barn! Guests quaffed cocktails whilst petting these glorious animals. Plus that heart-meltingly cute little chappie in the teeny blue towel!

How To Make This Wedding Yours…

Fancy a slice of their style?

Personalise your reception venue with photos of family and friends. It’s a touching and inexpensive piece of wedding decor that really hits the right note.

Get your groove on, big time! There were some serious movers and shakers on the dancefloor. Choose wedding music that everyone can dance to. I’m planning to get each of my guests to RSVP with a song they want to hear at the evening bash.

Use wedding flowers to full effect without the expense. See how Irene and Dan went for exotic single flowers in tall vases? Makes a massive statement at a fraction of the cost. Sweet!

Use potted plants instead of floral table centres. Check out the totally tropical potted plants set off to perfection with simple tea lights. Genius!

Food can be colorful too! I’m loving the juicy shades of the ice cream desserts.

Exotic and elegant, this wedding at the zoo was a stroke of pure genius!

Swap traditional name placecards with themed ones. This couple did things differently and organised tables by animal to fit with the zoo theme.

  • I love this warm tone you have in these images. I’m trying to figure out how to achieve the same effect in my images. they look vintage yet not tacky.
