5 Hot Designer Style Flower Girl Dresses For Every Budget
Designer style flower girl dresses are one of the funnest shopping excursions of the entire wedding planning process.
If I could spend every weekend shopping for fancy flower girl supplies and dresses for weddings I'd be the happiest gal on earth.
And while flower girl dresses don't change THAT much over time, there are some things that make a flower girl dress design seem a little more 'current'.
Let's talk about things that the big name designers are up to...
{1} 'The Billowing Flower' Designer Flower Girl Look
|
These flower girl dresses with big brown flowers is the pefect example of "The Billowing Flower" flower girl look.
While bows are still hugely popular for flower girl dresses, the humugous, billowing flower is the look of "designer" style flower girl dresses.
The location of the flower changes up - sometimes the flower is on the back. BUT, the more modern look has flowers in the front or slightly off to the side.
Another thing to note about the "The Billowing Flower" flower girl look is the color of the flower and sash. You do see dresses that don't have a high contrast color for the billowing flower, but it's fashionable for the flower to be in a color that contrasts the actual dress.
Note: Keep your eyes peeled for extravagent bows and flowers TOGETHER. Yes, in the same dress! AND, I see it moving towards the back again - it's just more practical for the little ones.

{2}'The Simple'n Sweet' Designer Flower Girl Look

Amongst all the excess and sacchrine cute'ness of flower girl designs there is a super simple look that's big in fashion for flower girls
Simplicity. It just never goes out of style. It's timeless, classic, and plain old sweet (and affordable!).
But, the thing to note about the "Simple'n Sweet" look of today's designer style flower girl dress is the fabric. They're just so much nicer than ever before.
In the past, tafettas and other 'crispy' fabrics were the norm. Today, beautiful soft cottons, eyelet laces, and even some man-made fabrics that fall more naturally are common for the designer look. That's really the key - the simple designer style flower girl dress falls so much more nicely. And, on top of that, they're more breathable AND more comfortable.
Something to note about the image above - The "Simple'n Sweet" flower girl look can include a colored sash, white sash, or no sash at all. This look is based mostly on the casual, relaxed design and fabric of the dress. Anything too outlandlish for the sash probably would take away from the sweet and simple look though.

{3}'The Ballerina-Fairy-Princess' Designer Flower Girl Look

We're seeing little ballerina's and fairies everywhere these days - so it's no surprise they'd be popping on wedding runways and aisles too.
And isn't the little girl to the right just ADORABLE! I love (love!) how her skirt is 'ballerina-fairy' to the max with a super comfortable t-shirt up top. This is just brilliant for really young flower girls!
Something to note about this dress is the unique theme-related details that the bride added to the look... the damask sash AND shoes were a remarkable fit for her theme!
Those elements make it seem immediately more modern. This bride was a trend-setter.
And, ya know what - apart from the shoes - this look is pretty easy for anyone to recreate. Little fairy skirts and ballerina skirts can be found anywhere these days! And anyone can do up a wee sash in your wedding colors - and if not, a seamstress will do one up for around $10.

{4} 'The Puff Pastry Baby' Designer Flower Girl Look

You gotta love this look! And while it would make any kid over the age of 4 look totally ridiculous, it's super sweet on the wee ones.
This is probably the most unique flower girl dress on this page! Can you just imagine how fabulous she'd feel if she was into all of those princess stories for kids. Talk about a dream-day for a little girl!
The thing to note about this designer-look however is that it's a bit less practical than some of the other looks on this page.
Little-miss Puff Pastry will probably get very uncomfortable very quickly. And dinner time would probably be a very untidy affair - so make sure to bring a change of clothes. Something cute of course.
The cute-factor sure does trump practicality in this case doesn't it :)

{5} 'A Swirl of Color' Designer Flower Girl Look

Color has made a come-back in the past few years and it's no different for designer style flower girl dresses.
Beautiful white, barely pink, and champagne is hugely popular for both designer bridal gowns and flower girl dresses. BUT, there are some super unique flower girl dresses using an interesting combination of color.
That's really the thing that's important - it's the combination of colors. Not necessarily the color.
This unique pink and green flower girl dress illustrates the popularity of pink and lime'ish green in combination. But purple - both rich purples and subtle lavenders - are also a really popular combination with that soft lime green.
