5 Amazing Places To Find
DIY Wedding Invitation Kits

Looking for a simple homemade wedding invitation ideas? If so, a DIY wedding invitation kit is a great solution - especially if you get a simple kit and pimp it up with your own unique fonts, ribbons, etc.

And while diy wedding invitation kits are a really fabulous way to save, one of the things I talk about in the K.i.s.s Wedding Guide is this - they aren't the only way to get very nice and very cheap wedding invitations.

But diy invite kits are still the cheapest way to get your invites IF you go with something super simple and decide not to embelish them. It's truly a smart solution if you're looking for budget wedding invitations. Let's look at where you can find some really fabulous, really cheap kits that you won't want (or need) to embellish!

1) "LCI Paper" For a Balance Between Cost and Variety

diy wedding invitation kitsLCI paper is one of my favorite places to get DIY wedding invitation kits. They have a kajillion options and the prices are FABulous! You can search by price and theme so that's really great too!

If you want to DIY from scratch they also have specialty papers and other supplies so that you can get as creative as you want.

2) Lots Of DIY Choices at "My Gatsby"

My Gatsby is fabulous, and oh SO popular! You can be as creative as you want with these guys!

Mix and match envelope styles and colors, choose from about a gazillion colors, and the choices... ooooh, the choices! It makes me a little giddy just thinking about it!

With that said, all of the choices does make the process a little more complicated and stressful. So, if you want to see a picture of a DIY invitation kit, know immediately that you love, and then buy it, this might not be the place for you.

3) Eco-Friendly DIY Invites at "Invite Site"

Gosh am I ever a fan of Invite Site! If you want to have super stylish invites that are also eco-friendly then these guys are PERFECT for you!

They're designs are super nice and the prices are really great too (around $2-$4 per invite). They sell all of the wedding stationary you need so everything can match nicely - from invitations to thank you cards and even programs.

4) "Papeterie" For High Quality DIY Invitation Kits

I'm a huge fan of Papeterie's DIY Invites. In addition to their custom design and high end invites they've also incorporated a high end DIY invitation kit section.

In addition to the DIY invites not really looking like a DIY invite, they will also deal with the more complicated aspects of a DIY job - PRINTING (yuck!). That leaves you with the funs stuff - folding, adding ribbons, etc. They're more expensive than a regular DIY invite, but that is offset but the quality and hassle-free service they offer.

5) "OneHeart" For Themed DIY Invitation Kits

In addition to diy wedding invitation kits, OneHeart sells ALL of the stationary you might want for your wedding as well - programs, savet he dates, thank you cards, etc.

Instead of paying by invite you pay a monthly fee for unlimited access to ALL of their templates. You WILL have to pay for printing somewhere, but you can do it at home or at a local printing store.

"I Got Simple DIY Invite Kits From a Business Supply Store - How Can I Make Them Look More Unique and Personal?"

We actually purchased our invites this way and personalized them with Japanese Paper. We thought it was the cheaper solution, but, with the cost of the Japanese paper it probably would have cost us the same amount to get them from Papeterie. If you're fine with something really simple or can find one of the invite kits that include ribbon, this is probably the most affortable solution.

Interesting Paper

Specialty paper stores carry lovely hand paper papers like Japanese paper! Scrap-booking stores do as well! A small panel of paper in your theme color is a stylish, yet simple and inexpensive way to personalize your invite.

Unique Fonts

Using a unique font is one way to make your invites really unique and beautiful. The font to the left is called Mascara and several of our friends commented on how much they liked it. Go to www.myfonts.com where you can pick from thousands of fonts!

The Professional Touch

Invest in the appropriate supplies!

  • Get Eyelets for ribbon holes
  • Get a sharp exact o-knife and cutting board
  • Use a Glue Runner (like dry white-out, but glue)
  • Use a stamp on your closing seal

Ribbon

Perhaps the most common way to personalize invites is ribbon. If the kit comes with a white ribbon and your wedding is blue and brown, head off to the nearest fabric or ribbon store. Don't know how to tie a ribbon, get pre-tied ribbon!

You Can Save On More Than Your Wedding Invitations

When looking for ways to cut costs most bride-to-be's decide to scrimp in a few places - wedding invitations is one of them. And, I'd have to agree that this is the smart'n savvy thing to do. With all of the affordable and stylish invitations (both DIY and a la carte) there's no reason to splurge.

BUT, there are a lot of other simple things you can do to make sure you're budget (and your sanity) doesn't run away from you. Find out how in Perfect Weddings Without the Debt.
