Unique Ideas for a Ceremony

Top 10 Unique Wedding Ceremony Ideas

Are you looking for unique ideas for a ceremony?

I've put together my list of top 10 unique ceremony ideas.

  1. Walk down the aisle with your groom: If you and your groom have been living together for some time it seems a little silly to have your father give you away.
  2. Plant a tree (or plant) as part of your vows: Look at the symbolic meanings of trees to help you decide. The Oak tree, Alder, Apple, Reed, Elder, and Heather are all good options for marriage.
  3. Have your mom and dad "give" you away: Since mom gave birth to us and in most cases did most of the work raising us, it makes sense to give them this role.
  4. Have a ring warming: This basically involves passing your ring around (in a bag) to each guest for a blessing. If you prefer, you can just pass it around to your family and closest friends in the few front rows.
  5. Create a special dance for walking down the aisle: This isn't exactly cutting edge anymore, but it certainly isn't traditional.
  6. Have your parents greet guests with a glass of wine: This would only work if you're not getting married in a church. It's a nice way to start the festivities and introduce your guests to the family of the bride and groom.
  7. Let guests stand during the ceremony: There certainly are exceptions, as grandma and disabled or pregnant friends/family would need to sit. But, if you're having a casual and short wedding cermeony this will give it a relaxed feeling.
  8. Decorate your aisles with parosels instead of petals: This is a dramatic, unique and inexpensive way to decorate your wedding aisles.
  9. Have your guests sit on wooden benches or hay bales: Who says you need to have white chairs with bows and flowers? Not only will it save you money but you'll also have a lot of fun!
  10. Carry a candle instead of a bouquet: This is a lovely old German tradition. Yo place the candle beside your unity candle and can sometimes even be held during part of the ceremony.
