Simple Wedding Ceremony Traditions
Wedding ceremony traditions are a simple and inexpensive way to make your ceremony meaningful to you and your family/friends. Traditions don't have to be outlandish or overly involved. In fact, it could be as simple as a poem reading or the wedding etiquette that you incorporate in your day.
The below ideas are the most popular and common traditions for a wedding ceremony.
Simple cultural wedding ceremony customs/traditions
No matter what culture you research you'll find some interesting cultural traditions that you can incorporate into your wedding. Here is a list of some the more simple and flexible traditions I've come across:- Have a musician play the accordian or bagbipe as your family enters the reception
- Provide each of your guests with a carnation corsage or rosemary sprig
- Sit under a bough tree after the ceremony where you guests will provide there well wishes. Then, plant the tree in your yard.
- Prepare for a rose petal or jasmine toss after your ceremony to protect you from harm
- Provide your guests with a celebratory shot or glass of wine in the receiving line
Spiritual wedding ceremony traditions
- Wear something new, something borrowed, something blue and something old
- If you are getting married in your backyard plant a tree to symbolize your bond with eachother and the earth
- The hand fasting
- The sand or candle ceremony
- The reading of a poem or a passage
