10 (Seriously) Laugh-worthy, Sexy and Silly Wedding Reception Games
So, it’s your wedding day and you’re thinking about how you can make the day even more memorable for you and your guests. Hmm … how can you have fun at your wedding and give you guests a great time too? Bring on reception games that are seriously laugh-worthy, silly and maybe a wee bit sexy. Enjoy your big day as your guests squeal in delight and laugh the day away.
Interested? Well, let me explain then. Boring and really plain wedding reception activities can provide your guests with an express pass to la-la (sleepy or “I-wanna-get-outta-here”) land. So, stay away from the boring stuff and embrace fun-filled activities for your wedding reception. Below are ten really awesome, funny and maybe a little silly wedding activities that will excite your guests and help you celebrate your big day.
1} Feed Me Please
Usually, it is expected that the bride and groom will take care of each other – for better for worse. One fun way for the bride and groom to show their love and commitment is to feed each other during the reception. Yes, yes, the bride and groom usually feed each other a piece of cake, but you can kick it up a notch and create an activity filled with other fun foods.
One person sits in a chair while the other person is blindfolded. Then either the bride’s maids or groom’s men can shout out directions to the blindfolded bride or groom. Watch as all sorts of directions are offered and watch the guest roar in laughter if a wrong move is made!
2} You Are Getting Warmer: Roman Hands - Russian Finger
There’s probably little that is funnier than trying to find something that really does not want to be found or is not meant to be found easily, especially when the space to be searched is quite limited. Where could it be? Have fun at the expense of the bride and groom as each person searches for items that have been carefully hidden on their spouse’s body or outfit.
Make it even more fun by letting the guests know in advance where the items are placed. As the bride or groom use their hands to search or feel for the hidden items, the guests can yell out, “You’re getting warmer” or “You’re way off the track”. This is a funny activity!
3} The Line-Up (Guess Who)
Remember the police line-up, where suspects wait to be identified by a witness. In this fun wedding reception activity, either the bride or the groom gets blind-folded. Then the fun starts! Guests are picked from the crowd and placed in a line-up with either the bride or the groom.
Then the blind-folded bride or groom needs to pick out their new spouse from the line-up! Funny! Especially if the blindfolded spouse is feeling hairy legs and other features of people who are in no way similar to the person he or she is searching for. A great twist: Get props such as fake body parts! Yikes!!
4} The Hula Hoop
Have you ever watched someone hula hoop? Unless the person is an expert in this activity, it can be hilarious. Make it a competition! The guest that can hula hoop continuously for a specified amount of time gets a gift. Also, the “gift” can be that the bride and groom will kiss.
Start with a high time duration such as one minute. Perhaps there will be no takers. Then keep reducing the time and see the hands shoot up in the crowd. Lots of cheers and laughter!
5} Wedding Garter Relay Race
Whoever knew that the bride’s garter could be a vital part of a relay race during a wedding reception? Ahh … there are many uses for this slightly naughty accessory! This activity will most likely be performed by the men at the reception, but both sexes can have a great time laughing at the results.
Create teams of men and each team will take turns participating in a garter relay race. The team with the shortest time wins. Each team will place a member on a chair at the center and a team-member will run to the seated member and place the garter on their leg and then sit on the chair.
The person with the garter runs to his teammates who are lined up, removes the garter and hands it to the next team member. The person with the garter then runs to the teammate on the chair and the process repeats till all team members have worn the garter. Brides and bride’s maids can also use the groom’s tie to have fun with this activity.
6} Pop that Balloon or Pick Up That Item
Have you ever tried to pop a balloon without using your hands or pick up an item using only your mouth? Not easy … trust me, hands are quite useful. In this activity, the bride and groom need to work together to pick up an item such as an apple or pop a balloon without using their hands.
Make the activity even funnier by placing restrictions on the use of feet too! Ha! Now, I would like to watch that too!!
7} Get That Cherry
Similar to the Pick Up That Item game, Get That Cherry focuses on an item such as a piece of fruit that must be retrieved by the bride and groom working together. That’s marriage! Add more laughs by making the object move! As the bride and groom figure out the best method of attack, guest will smile and enjoy the show.
8} Expect the Unexpected: Garter the Gander
Get the attention of guests by flipping the switch. They expect something traditional to happen but give them a surprise. For example, let the groom wear the garter instead or when it is time to toss the bouquet, let the groom pick up the bouquet and lead the activity instead. Shock, laughter and fun!
9} Transfer the Egg
Moving an object from one part of the body to another can be funny and intriguing to watch. For the skilled brides and groom, watch as guest look on intently with awe and gasp at methods the couple uses to achieve the goal of transferring the object from one leg to another leg or from one positioned (fixed) hand to another positioned (fixed) hand. Don’t make it simple, but not too difficult too. This is what makes it a fun activity!
10} I am the Best Kisser
Ok. If you want to get your wedding reception guests excited, ask the MC to do a call for a “best kiss competition”. Preferably, people that are already couples can volunteer to enter the friendly competition and the couple with the best kiss wins a price or gets applause.
Another fun twist to this activity has nothing to do with kissing, but giving advice. Line up about ten volunteers and the person who provides the most unique, practical AND funny marriage advice will get cheers and a prize! Well, maybe just cheers, but you get the point.
