Weddings On A Budget: Savvy Ways To Save On The 3 Things Most Important to The Majority of Brides
Here's a secret: When you're planning weddings on a budget you won't feel like you're making "cheap" wedding plans if you splurge on the things that are most important to you, scrimp on the things that aren't, and save on anything you can!
No one wants to compromise on their dream wedding. But, the most beautiful weddings on a budget are the ones that have IN THE RIGHT WAYS! Those brides knew what their priorities were and didn't compromise on the things matter to them at. But, they found some savvy solutions that looked great and didn't cost a fortune.
They did NOT make "cheap" wedding plans...INSTEAD they where smart about their choices. Simple as that! And you know what - you can do the same! Here are 3
1} Save On Your Wedding Dress
If so, boy can I ever relate. But, like you I didn't have alot of money to spend on it - $750 was my budget. Not terribly low, but hardly a "splurge on a designer gown" budget either.
And while I didn't get a "Designer" gown for $750 I did get a $2500 gown for $600. Not bad right! I didn't scrimp, not really. But, I certainly saved ALOT of money. I would have loved to splurge but I actually don't think I splurged on anything...except maybe my hair cuz DIY hair just wasn't an option for me. If you knew me, you'd understand (smiles).
My dress was a sample, but there are a TON of indsutry tricks or simple tips that make it possible to get inexpensive wedding dresses - and just as easily...
2} Fit An Open Bar Into Your Budget
Finding the money for an open bar when planning weddings on a budget can be one of the most challenging things a bride and groom face. And not having one can make you feel like you're making really 'cheap' wedding plans.
So what's a bride and groom to do? Well, alot of other couples decide to save and scrimp in other areas in order to find a way to splurge here. But if that's not an option for you (and it wasn't for us either) there are a ton of ways you can have an open bar and STILL save.
What we did is offer simple mixed drinks, a selection of wines, and beers. Even though we were married at a bistro with some of the best wines AND the best Martini's in the city, they weren't on the drinks menus. People could choose the house wines, simple cocktails (i.e. gin and tonic) and more common beers.
That's just one way to save on an open bar. There are alot of other ways you can save on your drink and wedding menu, and alot of them are even more creative.
3} Get Pro Wedding Pics
This is a tough one. When you're paying for a service from a freelancer who probably needs a lot of work during a few short months to pay for an entire year of living it's important to be fair about how (and what) you pay them. Besides it's one of the things that will shape your memory of your big day in a lot of ways!
That's why, for a lot of brides, this is one of those areas where splurging is a must. In fact, there are a few weddings on the real wedding blog were brides spent 1/2 of their $5000 budgets on photography alone!
Well, that wasn't an option for us - and might not be for you either. And the good thing is that there ARE ways to save without sacrifcing on fabulous wedding pics. We ended up hiring a friend who was a photographer and happend to work for a wedding photographer in his youth. We were lucky to have a friend with experience. But, there are about a kajillion other ways to save!
